This body is a gift...

​I am to love myself if I am to be able to love others as myself as God commanded.  And that includes this body He intricately formed in my mother’s womb to be purposefully who He created me to be.
I must admit, I’ve not loved my body for most of my life.  I’ve tried to force it to do what I wanted, I degraded it when it didn’t look how I dreamed, I tried rushing healing that needed more time, I’ve abused it with foods I put in it and I’ve spoken so very negatively to it each and every day.  And all it’s trying to do is be for me what God created it to be for His purpose, His glory and for my good.
But how can it be for my good when I treat it so bad?
Well, that’s what I’m learning.  I’m learning this body is a gift, perfectly made for me.  My height, the color of my skin, my bone structure, the origin I was born, eye color, etc.  It’s all part of God’s purpose and plan for me on this earth and I need to love it, take care of it, enjoy it and use it for His glory.
I’m a work in progress but my first step is apologizing for treating it so badly for so long and asking the Lord to help me love me as He loves me.  To love this gift He placed my soul in to live out my purpose He created me for here on earth.  This body is a gift and I want to treat it as such.
So, Lord help me stop complaining when I can’t do something because I didn’t take care of it.  Give me peace when I struggle with the way it looks.  Give me wisdom and guidance on what to feed to fuel it and how to move it to keep working as long as you give it breath.  Help me give You ownership of my body to lead and guide me through the Holy Spirit that lives in me.  Make me all Yours!  In Jesus name, Amen!!!
